I remembered reading this article in conjunction with my Developmental Psychology class during college. I think it would be an interesting read to any parent!!
Basically, it talks about the correct way to praise to your children. According to this article, it is better to praise your child for being "hardworking" than being "smart". Children who were praised for being hardworking tended to challenge themselves more. Whereas, children who were praised for being smart tended to stay in a "safe zone".
It also teaches you ways to correctly praise your child!
I think this a great article (a real must-read!), and I will incorporate it into my teaching methods!!
Love,
Ms. Chen
